Avashu clan in Malava constituency has come out to demand leadership in the coming by election after 30 years of missed trials.

The larger clan residing mainly in South and West Kabras and parts of Shirugu Mugai wards have now declared that the MP seat which was wrestled away from them for the last 30years should now be returned back to them in this coming by election through their candidate Leonard Shimaka.

Speaking when they welcomed home their candidate in a grand public gathering at Ingavira market which is the aspirant’s home turf, the locals expressed hope that Shimaka will deliver the seat, noting that they have been in the political cold for long.

Led by Juma Matsanza, the elders called on the locals to fully rally behind Shimaka as he had what it takes to clinch the seat and deliver it back to them as they have been vying for it in vain.

“We as Avashu clan being the largest, have resorted that we fully support Lawyer Shimaka as our own and this time we believe in him to do us proud by returning the leadership baton back to the clan” he noted.

Titus Vutiya, another resident said the clan made the decision as Shimaka’s development track record stood out of the rest of the other contestants from the clan.

“Shimaka development record not only for the community but constituents is highly regarded and that is why despite us supporting his bid from the grass root level, we have other voters from other clans who are also supporting him as their choice following his extended assistance to them” Vutiya said.

In a fully charged meeting where the young people came out in large numbers to resonate with their own leader, they said it was also their time to represent a young and vibrant leader who will not only represent them but ensure their needs are catered for.

They brushed off other leaders who were also vying stating that some were old and had several flopped capturing the seat, while the others had exceeded their usefulness leading the government to retire them.

"How can we give another job to people who have been rejected by the system as not fit by virtue of age and mindset to hold office, they will not represent us at all” they said referring to retired principals (three in number) who are also seeking the parliamentary post.

They added that Shimaka by virtue of him being a law practitioner will craft and present bills in parliament meant to improve the sugarcane industry among other issues affecting the constituency.

Shimaka who acknowledged their trust and confidence in him to be their next Mp assured them that he was prepared to meet his opponents in the united democratic alliance (UDA) and assured his supporters that he will carry the UDA Malava flag.

The lawyer cautioned the residents against falling victims to some political outfits that were masquerading the constituency spewing political venom against the government and recruiting aspirants to contest for the seat through their parties.

“Malava is so special that it has been in government all through and there’s no way some political brokers who have a born to settle with the government for their own wrong doings can come here and convince and confuse us to vote for them.” He observed

He further noted saying Malava was lagging behind in education and health and promised to bolster the sectors once elected to parliament.

“Our hospital has been down-graded to level3 from the initial 4 and our bursary allocation system initiated by the late Mp is not helping our learners I will upgrade it so that each learner should at least get Ksh. 10,000 from the current Ksh.2000.

He lauded the continued support the government through Presidential aid Farouk Kibet was initiating in Malava and asked the residents to support the William Ruto government for the next five years to help transform the nation to prosperity.
