Aimed at strengthening medical infrastructure and service delivery to citizens.
Residents of Belur village in Kinyoro Ward in Saboti Sub-County and its surrounding areas will now benefit from improved quality, affordable and reliable healthcare services following the commissioning of a new dispensary commissioned by Governor Dr George Natembeya Wednesday.
Governor Natembeya during his address after inaugurating the facility reinforced his commitment to universal healthcare in the County by strengthening medical infrastructure and service delivery to citizens.
The Belur dispensary, the County boss noted is expected to reduce long walks to other health facilities in addition to reducing referral burdens on the Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital by ensuring faster and more efficient healthcare access for local communities.
The governor who was accompanied by Kinyoro ward representative Andrew Kibet Kipekee, Health CECM Samson Ojwang, his Chief Officer Dr Judith Simiyu, Chief of staff Dickson Wamocho and a host of other local leaders underscored commitment to have a competent workforce at the Dispensary.
"The far the health services the absence of child birth. I have today inaugurated this dispensary, equipped it with drugs to last for four months to serve patients freely", he said.
His administration, he added has made strides restoring dignity and respect for humanity.
The County Government has so far pumped sh. 6.7 million into the procurement of equipment already delivered to the facility with an additional Sh.1 million later in the year before the dispensary gets an upgrade to a full fledged Health Center.
Health CECM Samson Ojwang assured Trans Nzoia residents that surveillance and containment measures are in place to manage any mpox outbreak, saying the only one case that had been confirmed in Kiminini has been Contained.
He emphasized that the situation is being actively monitored and that healthcare workers are working diligently to contain the spread.
