Embrace Sports As An Income-Generating Activity, Youths Told
Youth told to invest their time in unlocking their various sporting talents and stop hoping for white-collar jobs.

Young people across the country have been urged to take sporting activities seriously as it is their future source of income.
The personal aid to Kenyan President William Ruto, Farouk Kibet was speaking at the finals of the Manda Shivanga Mca David Kivish Super Cup held in Malava constituency.
He called on the young generation to invest a lot of their time in unlocking their various sporting talents and stop hoping for white-collar jobs that have become scarce within the country.
Kibet who was the guest of honor at the sporting event hailed the displayed talents and assured them of a great future in the fraternity.
“I’m impressed with the unity being displayed through sports as young people of different genres come together for a common purpose and challenged them that they will also produce a team to battle it out with the Kivish cup winners next year.”
Kibet appreciated the ongoing cooperation between the Mulembe nation and the Kalenjins in terms of sports noting that the recent Chepsaita Marathon also attracted contesters from Luhya land which to him was a sign of unity among the two tribes.
He said sports was the only way to the young people to keep their dreams alive as the country and World was indeed of sportsmen and women of different categories.
“We need to mentor these young talents and through my help with friends who value development, we will tap these great talents to greater heights” he promised.
The leader also called for the young people to put more emphasis on education as they go hand in hand with sports.
“Already I have given Tombo secondary school Ksh1.5 million for development purposes and since I have been informed that the primary section needs more classrooms I’m pledging to set up two classrooms for them to support education matters, education curtails very many things including sports and that is why we are here to watch our young learners display their sporting potentialities” he added.
The host and area Mca David Kivish who sponsored the 6th tournament revealed that he will continue nurturing talents to ensure that the young people keep off drugs and substance abuse and instead use their talents to earn a living through their respective sporting talents.
He called on school managers also to assist the learners identify their best area of sports and tap their full potential.
“Sports is one of the most educative, entertaining, and development-oriented ventures that will see these young players secure themselves positions in different national regional, and even international sporting arenas across the globe. As leaders, we should be at the forefront of sponsoring such tournaments from the grassroots to help identify different talents and uplift them to the needed standards, let us keep assisting these players to get recognition and be absorbed in various soccer academies and clubs in the future.” He said.
He said he had already formed a ward team of players from each polling center and was training and sharpening them for the federation of Kenya football (FKF) league games starting this month and I will engage the federation officials to ensure the team is registered for the same.
He warned a section of the political class to desist from dragging the country’s sports fraternity into dirty politics to favour their own.
This is my 9th year sponsoring soccer games and even when I get out of politics I will continue to do so as it is a passion I harbor for my voters who elected me as their able leader.
