Trans Nzoia Governor Dr George Natembeya Friday urged medical professionals to maintain professionalism, emphasizing its importance for patient trust and high-quality care.
The County boss who earlier chaired the strategic meeting with the Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital Board highlighted need for medical practitioners to adhere to ethical principles and uphold their responsibilities to patients.
He underscored his administration's commitment to delivering and driving a transformative healthcare advancement for the people of Trans Nzoia.
"Professionalism is crucial for building and maintaining trust between medical professionals and the patients and the general members of the public ", he said.
The Governor who also Presided over the handing over of promotion letters to 215 Nursing officers challenged both nurses and doctors to always act with integrity, honesty, and respect for the patients .
Answering Concerns raised by the County Nurses Association Secretary Cheruiyot on interfearance, the governor said the County administration had in no way armtwisted the union.
He challenged the Nurses to up their game and minimize cases of pilferage of pharmaceutical and non pharmaceutical products procured to provide services to patients.
He challenged the new Board to address stagnation in the job description in addition to rewarding the hard working members of different cadres.
The new Board Chairman Professor Ferdinand Nang'ole who led a high powered team comprising of Teresa Metto, Alice Kemunto, Ronald Masindano, Father Micah Kibet, Lawyer Dennis Mutaki, Dr Isaac Kisiang'ani, Beatrice Lukoko and County Hospital Administrator Amos Barasa said professionalism which involves identifying and addressing any lapses in ethical conduct or patient safety, ensuring that high standards of care must be maintained at all costs.
Trans Nzoia County Public service Board Chairman Peter Wamoto who was accompanied by Board Member Mrs Agatha Khaoya, HR Director Dr Johnston Wanjala and his Finance Counterpart Albert Soita called for teamwork and collaboration between the medical workers and the new Board.
He expressed Confidence in the Board which he chalk to be keen in ensuring that the welfare of the health professions is looked into.
