Parents have been urged to take full responsibility of instilling good morals in their children during this holiday season.
The sentiments were echoed in a colourful retirement and thanksgiving ceremony for the head of institution (HOI) Luyeshe primary and Junior school Truphena Sasaka at her Babylon home in Butali Chegulo ward in Malava sub county.
Issuing her retirement speech after 39 years of service as a teacher Mrs. Sasaka challenged the parents to walk the talk on matters pertaining moral upbringing of their children raising citing the rising cases of school unrests being witnessed across the country.
She said it was time the parents owned up their responsibilities and start instilling discipline in their children.

The outgoing head of institution cautioned parents against delegating their responsibilities to teachers whose mandate is to teach and not administer discipline as assumed by many.
At the same time she also called on the teachers to embrace the trade by ensuring that the learners grasp what is being taught at school.
She said it was the duty of the teachers to assist the learners to understand what is taught for the benefit of the learners excelling in their exams.
She further warned those teachers who only come to school to earn a monthly wage but do not about the status of the learners at all.
Failure by the parents to groom their children is the start of learners losing direction and future as the next leaders.

Sasaka however hailed those parents who have focused on instilling moral behavior in their children terming the act as a good directive that will shape and determine the future of the learners.
The collaboration of teachers and parents is key for the success of the learners and hence we are advocating for a closer working relationship.
“Let us also come out and support school especially in this era of (CBE) where more practical learning is in place so that learning can continue smoothly” She lashed out on the sexual perverts preying on young school girls to desist and give the girls a chance to pursue theirveducation.
