West Mugirango Member of Parliament Steve Mogaka has handed over a new school bus to Nyakeore Senior School, in a move expected to boost transportation and support learning and co-curricular activities at the institution.

The new bus, which was officially handed over to the school, is set to ease transport challenges faced by students and teachers when travelling for academic programmes, educational trips, sports competitions and other school activities.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at Nyakeore Senior Secondary School , Mogaka said the acquisition of the bus was part of efforts to support the growth and development of the school.

He urged the Ministry of Education to consider upgrading Nyakeore Senior School to a national school, arguing that the institution has the potential to serve more students and provide quality education to learners from different parts of the country.

Mogaka said upgrading the school would help improve its infrastructure, increase its capacity and open up more opportunities for students.

“We want the Ministry of Education to look at Nyakeore Senior School and consider upgrading it to a national school,” Mogaka said.

The MP noted that education remains an important pillar in the development of young people and called on education stakeholders to work together to ensure schools in the region have the necessary facilities to support learners.

The new bus is expected to benefit students by providing reliable transport for school activities while also reducing the challenges associated with hiring vehicles for trips and competitions.

School management and the local community welcomed the development, saying improved facilities and transport would contribute to the continued growth of the institution.

The call to upgrade Nyakeore Senior School comes at a time when there is growing demand for quality secondary education and better learning facilities across the country.

Mogaka said he would continue engaging relevant government agencies and stakeholders on development priorities affecting schools in West Mugirango.

He also encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them and remain focused on their studies.

The handover of the bus marks another development milestone for Nyakeore Senior School as the institution seeks to strengthen its academic, sports and co-curricular programmes.

The school community now hopes that the Ministry of Education will consider the MP’s request and assess the institution for possible elevation to national school status.

The move, if approved, would expand the school’s reach and potentially attract students from beyond the local area, further strengthening its position as an important education institution in West Mugirango and Nyamira County.
