Employment Opportunities as Paint Plant is Launched
The new paint plant with a production capacity of 5,000 litres per day and is a huge investment within Kakamega and its environs.

Residents of Kakamega have lauded the efforts of their governor in creating more new job opportunities after the county launched a new paint factory.
Governor Fernandez Barasa officially inaugurated Marble paints Ltd, a paint manufacturing firm at Handidi, Lurambi sub-county, as part of his efforts to ensure that the County government of Kakamega residents gets employment opportunities to uplift their livelihoods.
Speaking during the launch, Barasa said it was his mandate as the governor to continue in promoting private sector investment, industrialisation and job creation within the county that will see more young people securing job opportunities at the county level.
He pointed out that the new paint plant with a production capacity of 5,000 litres per day, was a huge investment within Kakamega and its environs as it was able to manufacture a range of paints and related products, including Silic, emulsion, gloss, universal and roof paints, solvents, varnish and texture, among others that have a ready market within the region and even beyond.
The governor further revealed that the investment which is expected to create an estimated 1,000 direct and indirect employment and business opportunities for residents will go a long way in also sprucing up the county’s economic network all through.
Marble paints is the latest addition to a growing list of industries the County government has actively initiated and pursued within the Kakamega, creating a conducive environment for industrial growth and new economic opportunities.

It comes up besides other investments including Fuka maize milling factory in Chekalini ward, Lugari sub-county, Regen organic fertilizer factory in Mumias central ward, Mumias West sub-county, Tumbeni milk plant in Chemuche ward, Malava sub-county.
The Gold refinery plant in Idakho east ward, Ikolomani sub-county alongside the County aggregation and industrial park in Sinoko ward, Likuyani sub-county, which is also nearing completion.
Governor Barasa said his administration will continue working with the private sector to attract and bring on board more industries and unlock Kakamega’s economic potentiality.
He pledged the County Government’s support in areas within its mandate, including licensing and facilitating water, high mast flood lights and transport connectivity to support such investments.
At the same time he promised to ensure that his administration continues nurturing existing investments and creating a conducive environment for more businesses to established and expanded within the county.
The management of the Marble paints expressed their commitment in serving the residents of Kakamega and beyond taking pride in their quality range of products.

He was accompanied by Members of the County Assembly led by Deputy Speaker Hon. Benard Shitiabayi, Butsotso East MCA Hon. Dickson Luvega, members of the County Executive led by CECM for Water Mrs. Penina Mukabane, entrepreneurs led by Mr. Cleophas Shimanyula and other stakeholders.
