Joy and smiles as Mr. Gideon Tirok Chesang wins re-election to serve the next  term as Boresha DT Sacco delegate and director representing,  Kabarnet-Salawa  electoral  area, Baringo Central. 

He won by a landslide garnering 116 votes against  his competitor  Mr. Gikono Kiptoo (Baringo County Chief Officer - Finance ) who came distant second scooping 28 votes.

Other contestants Mr. William Kibet and madam Linah Chesire proposed and seconded Mr. Chesang for the  Directorship .

The poll was held during Sacco members' annual educational meeting 2024  held at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) Baringo on Saturday, February 17.

"I sincerely thank my competitors for the healthy competition. I will not take this  opportunity for granted, but promise to serve you better with more consultation on areas of improvement " Chesang said.

He took over the position after an election held at the same venue in 2021, to succeed  his predecessor Mr.  Pius Bolei.

Mr. Chesang however extended his gratitude to members for entrusting him  the  position of a delegate and director respectively, pledging to serve them diligently.

His competitors conceded defeat and wished him well with their full support as he steps in to serve his second term.

The election was presided over by the county Cooperatives Commissioner  Mr. David Maina.

During the event, Boresha Sacco Chairman Mr. Albert Chebiegon urged the delegates and board members to support the Sacco’s member-recruitment strategies.

His sentiments were echoed by the Sacco Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Mr Jacob Mengich (HSC) who termed the exercise free and fair.

Mengich was awarded prestigious Head of State Commendation(HSC) during last year's Jamhuri Day Celebrations on  12th December, 2023 by President H.E Dr. William Ruto.

Boresha Sacco has stood test of time having been established forty eight years ago in 1976 with currently over 80,000 active members.

The annual education meetings kicked off on Saturday with Kabarnet and Salawa divisions making their deliberations at KSG, Kabarnet.

Tenges and Sacho converged at Tenges Primary School.Eldama-Ravine-Mumberes-Lembus-Torongo-Esageri-Kipngorom-Sirwa assembled at Shimoni Day Secondary school.

Mogotio, Emining and Kisanana met at  St. Marys Pry school grounds while Mochongoi  membership meeting was convened at Kabel Primary School.

The Sacco’s education meetings are held ahead of Annual Delegates Meeting(ADM) scheduled for 23rd  March 2024 as per the schedule provided.
