The Bodaboda Bill of 2024  sponsored by Senator Boni Khalwale is set to transform the operations of motorcycle taxis' commonly known as bodaboda trade across the country.

This legislation aims to create a regulatory framework that ensures safety, accountability, and improved service standards for both operators and passengers.

As motorcycle taxis continue to be a vital mode of transport, particularly in urban areas, the need for regulation has become increasingly evident. 

The Bodaboda Bill seeks to establish guidelines for the registration, licensing, and operation of bodaboda services.

Key provisions of the bill include mandatory training for riders, the installation of safety equipment, and adherence to traffic regulations.

Moreover, it aims to create a framework for insurance coverage for both riders and passengers, thereby enhancing safety and accountability.

The motivations behind this legislation are multifaceted. In recent years, the rapid growth of bodaboda services has led to an increase in accidents, often resulting in fatalities.

Additionally, the lack of regulation has created a chaotic environment where unlicensed operators can exploit the system, leading to concerns about safety and reliability.
