Meru opinion leader Mike Kibutha popularly known as Makarina has urged Meru County Assembly Members to give Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza time to deliver her mandate.
Impeachment proceedings against the county boss is scheduled for tomorrow. It'll be the fifth attempt.
Makarina said some members of county assembly are being coerced to impeach Mwangaza for no apparent reason.
“They are given money and promised seats to impeach the MeruCounty governor for no apparent reason,” Makarina said.
He spoke at a local hotel in North Imenti Meru where he asserted Governor Mwangaza should be left to deliver on his manifesto in the five years.
“We are only remaining with three years to the next general elections they should let Mwangaza finish her term and deliver developmental projects even if he opts for to initiate her Okolea Program it is her choice the voters are the ones who will judge her in the next polls,” he said.
He went on to reveal that according to his analysis Mwangaza will still be Meru governor for a decade.
“He trounced seasoned politicians like former Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi and Former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi I do not see anyone who can match her I wonder why the members of county assembly of Meru have not yet realized this,” Makarina said.
He said that Mwangaza has support of many Meru residents.
“For instance, If Meru County government is dissolved and all MCAS and Mwangaza go back to the polls very few mcas will make it back but Mwangaza will wade all the murky political waters and bounce back,” he said.
On national politics Makarina said that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should be respected he was responding to claims about Gachagua being impeached.
“In Mount Kenya we have two strong leaders who should not betouched they are Gachagua and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki,” Makarina said.
Makarina who has been a fierce critic of Mwangaza and his Okolea program has now turned an ally after being her political nemesis for several years.
It remains to be seen if the new dalliance will last.
