Kakamega county governor Fernandez Barasa shakes hand with Former senator and DCP deputy leader Cleophas Malala when the two met at a funeral ceremony in Malava subcounty

Political rivalry between Kakamega county governor Fernandez Barasa and DCP deputy party leader Cleophas Malala took centre stage after the two clashed in a funeral in Malava constituency.

Malala who was given a chance to address the mourners started off by lashing out at both the county and national governments leadership terming them as a letdown to Kenyans.

The democratic citizen party official brushed off governor Barasa for his failure to develop Malava which he had elevated to a municipality stature singling out infrastructure being a major concern.

He accused the county leadership of failing to serve the masses with many development projects still pending to be completed since he assumed office and assured the residents that come 2027 he will trounce the incumbent and initiate development.

At the national level he called on the government to stop its acts of goonism that was now targeting journalists and media houses that report the ills within government.

In retaliation Barasa who doubles as ODM county chairman, rubbished Malala’s sentiments terming them as empty with no direction at all.

He pointed out that Malala through his DCP party was selling cheap propaganda to Kenyans with the intention of wooing their political allegiance.

“We are aware of DCP leaders using propaganda and malice on us leaders including our President painting the government as bad corrupt and incompetence but in return they have failed to come up alternative solutions, with their only agenda being how they will ensure that we only serve one term, but it is unfortunate that even most Kenyans have realized that they mean no well to this country at all” Barasa told off Malala assuring him that the broad based formation was unbreakable and that they should prepare for a humiliating defeat.

“ODM and UDA coalition is so set to ensure it clinches the second term of its leadership and as DCP grapples to find their Presidential candidate, we are already warming up to floor them terribly and very early in the morning”, he revealed.

The governor praised his working relationship with President Ruto noting that already the county has received Ksh 12Billion to construct 220 Kms one of the major investment to Kakamega county.

Dr.Fernandes Barasa has assured residents of Malava that the Tumbeni dairy plant will be completed and operationalized come this December to support local farmers, promote value addition and create employment opportunities.

Barasa said his administration remains committed to completing projects that have a direct impact on the livelihoods of residents and it is what he has been doing since he was elected.

He further updated residents on ongoing development programmes in Malava, highlighting the upgrade of Malava Level IV Hospital, construction of box culverts and bridges, water infrastructure and ECDE centres.

Next week I'll be here to bring cheques for the social protection grants programme, through which Malava is set to receive KSh.7 million from the KSh.60 million being distributed across Kakamega County.

"As a county we have done so much that Malala will know since he rarely visits his county as he is busy spreading lies with his boss against the government of the day."

At the same time he has lashed out at cabinet secretary cooperatives Wycliffe Oparanya for waging apolitical war against his administration urging him to keep his lane considering that his interest were vested in the national government and not the county one.

He called on the Malava residents not to be swayed with the DCP lies and opt to remain steady fast in government.
