Acid test for Nyamira Governor Nyaribo as MCA files impeachment motion
The impeachment attempt is the second in less than two years against the UPA party boss.

A Nyamira Ward Representative now wants Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo impeached.
Evans Juma Matunda, a Wiper Party, filed the intent notice in the County Assembly Tuesday, citing gross violation of the constitution.
Other charges constitute gross misconduct and graft. The notice was handed over to Assembly Speaker Enock Okero at a brief sitting Tuesday afternoon.
“Notice of Motion to consider for debate and approval for the removal of Nyaribo, the Governor of Nyamira County from office by way of impeachment,” read part of the statement by Juma.
The impeachment attempt is the second in less than two years against the UPA party boss.
The first did flop after the majority ward reps shot it down. At least 18 voted against the 16 MCAs voted for it.
Nyaribo appears to be walking from one crisis to another, marking a tumultuous phase of his stay in office.
His relationship with the Ward Reps is said to be on its all-time low.
Nyaribo had also been at loggerheads with Senator Okongo Omogeni over fiscal imprudence.
Omogeni has countlessly claimed that the county had been run down by Nyaribo, a charge Nyaribo terms a sheer witch-hunt.
“There are no drugs in our hospitals, MCAs should start the impeachment process so that I get a chance to question him at the Senate.
We have instances where funds have been embezzled under the watch of the county boss,” the Senator was quoted as saying recently.
Among others, the Senator takes on Nyaribo for stalled projects and alleged kickbacks from contractors.
