Several leaders across Western region have slammed leaders posing the reconstitution of the Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as malicious.

The leaders who were speaking at various functions within Kakamega County faulted the opposition led team that has launched a court complaint against the government move to reconstitute (IEBC) terming it not sincere.

Led by the Principal Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, the leaders blasted those backbiting the government by sabotaging the IEBC reformation process through the courts saying they had an ulterior motive aimed to paint the Kenya Kwanza government in bad light.

Mudavadi said those against the (IEBC) implementation process were habouring a hidden agenda meant to demean and expose William Ruto’s administration as having failed.

If President William Ruto and Raila Odinga have agreed to work together through a broad based government, then who are you to stand in the way? Kenya Kwanza administration is on the forefront in ensuring that the ODM leader clinches the African union chairmanship seat come early next year and now the country is forging forward on a development path as per the aspirations of President Ruto’s manifesto.

Musalia observed that failure by the opposing parties to present their favourable representative to the selection panel and hold talks to resolve their issues to allow the country to move forward was a calculated move aimed to stagnate the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He said it was important for the formation of the IEBC ahead of 2027 that will give those aggrieved a chance to exercise their democratic rights through the ballot.

“Let us be sober enough and agree to constitute the election body as the 2027 polls nears, as this will give every Kenya freedom and right to execute their rightful mandate as per the constitution but right now the Kenya Kwanza administration is steadily focusing on bringing development two years down the election line and that is what Kenyans expect from us not endless political bickering and hoodwinking the government.” Said Musalia.

Also speaking at the Digihub launch at Kakamega county polytechnic and later at the launch of safe homes safe spaces in Bukhungu Kakamega county governor Fernandez Barasa told off those rushing to the courts to bock the process as having a hidden agenda against the development of the country at large.

“Why would any normal thinking Kenyan run to the courts to block the reconstitution process that has been the talk and desire of every Kenyan, we know there is a few disgruntled individuals who feels left out of the broad based government that has incorporated William Ruto and Raila Odinga with his lieutenants and we are in support of the cordial working relationship that will see Odinga being the next African union chairman, and we stand I solidarity with the Kenya Kwanza government as far development of both counties and national projects is concerned.” He wondered.

Barasa said it was time for the leaders to start thinking development and stop mudslinging the government in place and instead wait for the 2027 polls to vie for positions of their choice.
