Residents of Sibilo and Ng'aratuko land adjudication sections in Baringo North have once again firmly expressed displeasure over what they term as 'intended forceful subdivision of their land.'
Earlier on, the aggrieved locals had tabled their submissions through a letter from a law firm with a list of grievances seeking to have them amended before the process kicks off harmoniously.
Among the critical matters arising were proposal to have the entire committee in place totally reshuffled and a fresh election be held on grounds that some of the enlisted members lack moral standing to handle such crucial community issues.
The people still wonder how, when, and where the individuals, some being foreigners and total strangers purpoted to represent respective clans, were picked to run the exercise.
Worststill over 13 clans were left out in the committee representation while the land officer said they will just be co-opted to the list.
Secondly and most crucial, the map of Ng'aratuko land adjudication section was still missing, yet the government officials insisted on 'forcefully' initiating the demarcation process using the existing sibilo location map.
"We will have one committee for subdivision of both Sibilo and Ng'aratuko land adjudication sections because it is one" Saimo-Soi Ward MCA Michael Chebon- Cherombor said.
They further claim they are yet to be informed well about the method and the manner in which their land will be subdivided, or rather, they lacked proper prior public participation forums.
"Surprisingly, even the handpicked committee in place used to hold meetings in town hotels discussing our land issues, yet they want us to believe they'll come and serve us fairly, that's a total lie" an aggrieved resident said.
However, on Tuesday, government officials held a meeting in Sibilo intended to hear from the locals, but unfortunately, although it once again ended in disarray, they forced they way using 'the majority rule' to kick-start the process' immediately.
It is now upon those in disagreement to chat and give their way forward.
