North Imenti registers a shortage of 29 grade nine classrooms, constituency MP Rahim Dawood has said.

Schools will open in a fortnight, and yet most of the primary schools do not have the classrooms ready.

"I have already spoken to Education PS Belio Kipsang as National Government Constituency Development Fund(NG-CDF). we will build about 12 classrooms, and the ministry will build 15," he said.

He said they are awaiting approval from the treasury and will soon begin building the classrooms.

"We have agreed with education stakeholders that in schools where there are no grade nine classrooms schools they will use empty form.one classes from nearby secondary school as an alternative," Dawood said.

He said ECDE classrooms should be build by the county governments.

On bursaries he said they have about 10000 he urged those who have picked the forms to fill and return them in time.

"I want to urge residents to fill the bursary forms and return to the CDF offices," Dawood said.

He spoke on Friday after he gave school principals 24 tanks with a capacity of 10000 litres each for mitigating climate change.

Dawood urged Deputy President Kithure Kindiki who had promised to gazzette Imenti East sub county that was supposed to be gazzettes.

"We have offices ready and we are still waiting when Deputy President was CS Interior he promised to gazzette it we are still waiting if he will come to unveil it or if the new Interior CS Nominee Kipchumba Murkomen will gazette it," Dawood said.

He said they have also proposed new sub location and locations which they are optimistic will be gazzetted.

Mwiti Mukatha, headteacher of Mulathankari Primary, thanked the legislator for supporting education in their infrastructure. 

Mukatha he lauded the MP for the tank donation, which he said will help deal to store water for consumption in schools.
