The leadership of democracy for citizen party (DCP) led by its deputy party leader Cleophas Malala made inroads in Malava constituency where it presented its candidate for the Malava by election.
Edgar Busiega Mwanga was colourfuly paraded in Malava before the entourage headed to his home where his supporters broke into dance where they freely danced to the Kasongo wantam hit song.
The charged crowd mostly consisting of young people resonated well with the leaders chanting anti government sentiments.
Busiega who took to the podium to address the public amid cheers and jubilations from his followers expressed his hope that he will emerge the winner of the by election and represent the people parliament.
DCP Malava aspirant Edgar Busiega with DCP national Deputy party leader Cleophas Malala when they toured the formers home to meet their supportetsvand present him as their DCP candidate.
He said he has drafted several amendment bills that he will present to enable the cane farmers get bonuses and have their cane weighed at the farm before being transported to the factory.
“I have drafted at least four amendments that I will present to parliament once elected to give farmers and pupils reprieve."
Mumias was given Ksh150 Million bonus by the government and here in Malava,we have two sugar factories West Kenya and Butali sugar hence we should also be awarded Ksh.300Million as bonus to our farmers to boost their production.
"I have too proposed for the introduction of feeding programme in our public schools where a portion of Ng-CDF funds will be utilized to purchase food for the pupils and this will encourage learning as most of the pupils are going to school hungry due to hard economic times being faced in the country.”he said.
He also expressed the need to scrap the double taxation of 16% which is imposed through transportation of the canes and fuel levy as it was too expensive to the cane farmer.
Cane farming is one of our most valued cash crop and streamlining it to benefit the farmers will be important and i will push for the changes and I plan to also use part of the Ng-CDF funds to subsidize fertilizer from Ksh.2500 to Ksh.2000 to allow more farmers purchase and use it.
The DCP candidate who is causing an uproar from the government and other contenders stated that it was time the constituency had a banking institution as millions of shillings exchange hands from the two factories weekly and if the farmers begin to receive their monies from Malava, they will promote the local business within through purchasing of items and materials.
The national deputy party leaders DCP Cleophas Malala took a swipe at the prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi following his utterances that DCP not a serious party and hence no one should join and support it.
Why is Edgar’s entrance as the DCP Malava candidate just a day ago already giving the government sleepless nights, and we have not yet started campaigning? let them know that DCP is the change Kenyans been yearning for and we will clinch all the UDA seats country wide.
Malala told off Musalia over his party (ANC) and joining (UDA) terming the move as suicidal.
Let me tell Musalia one thing as far as him leading us to the right direction that he has failed, he has instead misdirected us to the wrong direction, you have never shown the Luhya nation the true direction.
In 2002,you took us to Kanu, we lost and you also lost your seat,in 2007,you took us to Raila and we again lost, again in 2013 you supported Raila and in 2017 you with Raila lost again until in 2022when I took you into government which you are still in and I was kicked out and now I’m the deputy party leader of DCP that has two Luhya representatives at the top unlike your UDA that has no single Luhya in leadership and now I’m giving new direction that come 2027 DCP will form government, so you better jump ship now or again you’ll find yourself in the political cold as usual.” said Malala.
Malala stated that the Malava by election was going to be the political litmus paper of things to come in 2027 and asked the residents to vote wisely. As you know, I'll be vying for the gubernatorial seat against Fernandes Barasa and with the wave DCP has brought to the country UDA is in problems and we should start by flooring the UDA candidate in Malava as this will trigger the government to wake up and bring development to the people.
Raila Odinga after fighting Ruto and finally managing to join government he is now enjoying more development from government, we also want to win this seat to wake up the government to bring here development ahead of 2027 polls.
