As the Malava by-election scheduled for November 27 draws closer UDA candidate David Athman Ndakwa has highlighted education as one of the key pillars of his manifesto.
While addressing congregant at Musungu PEFA Church in Malava, Ndakwa pledged to champion education if elected to represent the people in the Lancaster House.
“Education is the only equalizer we have where people from humble backgrounds can sit at the same table with those from wealthy families,” Ndakwa promised to ease the burden of school fees for parents through NG-CDF sponsorship, ensuring that every child benefits equally from the fund.
He emphasized his commitment to supporting children’s education across the constituency.
The candidate also urged students to respect their parents during the long holiday, assist them with home chores and continue reading and revising to avoid forgetting what they learned in school.
He further encouraged parents to spend quality time with their children instead of relying on relatives to take care of them.
The patron of the Chepsait Marathon, Farouk Kibet who was present at the event echoed Ndakwa’s message and expressed his support for the education agenda.
“Chepsait Marathon is one of the biggest charitable events. From the proceeds we plan to sponsor at least ten students from each of the seven wards in Malava,” said Farouk Kibet the marathon’s patron.
Kibet also urged parents to value education for all children regardless of gender and to support children with disabilities discouraging parents from hiding them at home.
According to recent surveys cases of early pregnancies among school going children remain a growing concern in Kenya.
