A head of tomorrow’s Abasonje clan meeting to choose one candidate to be their community flagbearer tables have turned after the Malava elders endorsed Edgar Busiega as preferred candidate in the coming by election.
Edgar Busiega who has been a main contestant in the Malava parliamentary seat while being endorsed by the elders ahead of tomorrow’s 11th July 2025 Abasonje clan high profile meeting to rate, vet, gauge and decide who will deliver the Malava seat from their clan.

The endorsement of Busiega by the elders has complicated things further for the late Mp’s son Ryhan Injendi’s bid to be too endorsed by the Abasonje clan.
Led by Chisambo Mulanda and Nicholas Waingwe the leaders who led a delegation of over 500 people to endorse Busiega expressed confidence that they had tried tested and verified that he was the best suited candidate to lead the constituency to greatness.
While addressing the Malava residents who had gathered at his home to witness the endorsement and acknowledge his candidature Busiega agreed to the endorsement stating that he was humbled to be considered by the Malava people as their candidate.
“It is my pleasure to be considered by the good people of Malava and I accept to represent them as their constituency leader and I want to assure you that I will not let you down in this endeavor and I ‘am humbled to work with you in this journey to transform Malava” he said.
He said once in parliament he will transform the disbursement of national government constituency development fund (NG-CDF) where local leaders and administration will be the ones used to issue bursary forms at the village level.
He wondered why despite the NG-CDF kitty being disbursed in every constituency Malava has been lacking transparency over it for many years and promised to fix the mess.
“There’s a lot of public outcry as far as bursary disbursement is concerned and it will be my duty as your leader to involve local village elders and assistant chiefs to reach out to the needy learners and this will bring on board many learners hence bolster education in the constituency” he assured.
On cane farming he pointed out that the 16% tax imposed on the cane farmers was hefty on them and he will table a motion to scrap the tax and allow farmers enjoy their produce like other farmers in their regions.
The elders praying for Edgar Busiega as their preferred candidate for the Malava seat
Busiega who is a re-known practicing lawyer added that the Malava road network which has become a political mirage for many decades will be sorted once he assumes office.
Reacting to the planned tomorrow’s meeting where the clan wants to pick one amongst the three, Busiega categorically stated that he wasn’t ready to step down for anyone and instead both Rhyan Injendi and Lazaro Lucheveleli who are also from his clan should support him as he has an overwhelming support from the constituents.
This endorsement today is a pure revelation that the Malava people have a lot of confidence and support for my candidature and I should be fully supported by them as I started searching for this seat even before the late Mp Malulu Injendi was still alive and I was that change people of Malava were yearning for” he paused.
He at the same time hinted that he will be vying through an opposition ticket as the current crop of voters were very bitter about the current regime and it will be suicidal to vie on a government ticket.
Busiega called on the young to stand by him to bring the needed change in Malava through coming out in large numbers to vote.
