Moi University staff have vowed to continue their strike over unpaid salary arrears despite treasury's recent commitment to disburse Ksh 3.5 billion to the institution.
Academic activities remain paralysed as the impasse drags on, leaving thousands of students stranded.
The university academic staff union (UASU) yesterday intensified pressure on the management , issuing a stern ultimatum to expedite the release of funds.
Speaking during heated meeting, union officials demanded transparency snd accountability accusing the university of mismagrment and delayed action.
"The treasury has already promised to release the money. Our members have suffered long enough " said UASU representative during press briefing.
Yesterday ,the parliamentary committee on education weighed in urging both the treasury and the university to act swiftly to end stalemate.
The committee called on the university management to prioritise paying salary arrears to restore normalcy.
The Ksh 3.5 billion allocation, promised by the treasury is intended to ease Moi university financial crisis and clear outstanding staff dues.
However the timeline for its release remain unclear further fueling tensions.
University management has remained tight- lipped about the situation with no clear road map to resolve the crisis.
UASU has warned that the strike will persist until all arrears are paid , settling stage for more disruptions in coming days.
The ongoing dispute highlights the deepening financial woes facing public universities in Kenya with Moi university becoming the latest causality in a growing list of institutions battling similar crisis.
