Malava aspiring politician has vowed to booost education standards if elected by ensuring that bright and needy students are awarded full bursary to pursue their education.

Nelson Shilunji Taliti who is eyeing the Malava paliamentary seat left vacant after demise of area Mp Malulu Injendi spoke while meeting church leaders, youths and women groups within the constituency.

The hopeful leader came out to support education matters by sponsoring students to learn and promised to prioritize education as key once elected noting that many learners had failed to continue with their education following the less bursary allocation awarded to them.

"Our late MP had resolved to equitable distribution of Ksh 2000 to Ksh 5,000 of bursary per student making it hard for the learner to continue with their education considering that the amount was just a drop as compared to the balance" he said.

Shilunji who has expressed his interest to be the next Malava Mp said education the constituency was way behind compared to other constituencies within and hinted that full bursary allocation will allow bright and needy learners complete their education.

“Many families within are engulfed in abject poverty and find fee payment being a huge challenge hence depends on county and national government bursaries and we should fully assist vulnerable learners pursue their education fully before we consider those abled and this will boost their morale and encourage other learners to work hard knowing good grades will guarantee them fully bursary automatically.”

Malava being the largest sub county has 53 secondary and 115 primary schools and has seen the number of university entry increase to over 500 per year but needs more educational stakeholders to revamp its ailing education status.

He said his plans to develop education in the sub-county will not only double the entry but put the it on the academic radar as a top performing constituency.
