The late former Prime Minister doubled ODM leader Rt. Hon Raila Odinga was committed and concerned about humanity more than our own local leaders, a section of Baringo residents have said.

Led by Tiaty Sub-County Pokot Council of Elders Secretary General Henry Losikiriatum, they mourned Raila Thursday, terming him astute and patriotic leader who throughout his lifetime put interests of Kenyan citizens forward.

"During his visits to Tiaty while working for the previous governments, he has always wondered why some parts of Baringo like pokot land was since independence left marginalized in development in the watch leaders," Losikiriatum said.

He said while serving as prime minister during the late President Mwai Kibaki regime, Raila toured Tiaty five times to commission Loruk-Nginyang-Chemolingot-Kolowa tarmac road.

"Raila then breathed hope on us while laying the road's foundation stone at Loruk, saying the government plans are aimed at benefitting thousands of jobless youth, which we agreed and believed he was really a visionary leader," he said.

He was backed by Mzee Musa Amakon, Peter Didii, Charles Tongolo, James Nyoru, Joseph Kulei, among others.

While praising the departed Kenyan hero, they wondered as to why leaders of Baringo keep on discriminating some parts of the county like Tiaty in terms of resource sharing and economic development.

"It is so unfair for some leaders from outside to come and address our teething challenges here at home while we have our own elected leaders in power. Why?" they questioned.

The elders, however, mourned Raila, saying, "May his soul rest in eternal peace as we keep remembering his deeds in our hearts"
