Clergy pledges support to President Ruto's reelection 2027

Officials of the Malava interfaith churches have pledged their support towards the reelection of President William Ruto in 2027.

Led by their chairman Bishop Elly Taliti, the clergies threw their weight behind President Ruto’s second term bid alleging that he has been on the fore front in assisting churches across the country.

Taliti who was addressing congregants at the African church of the holy spirit in Tumbeni Malava constituency in a special prayer attended by prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Ps, higher education Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, Presidential aide Farouk Kibet among other Mps and Mcas, the clergy said they had resolved to stand by the President following his unwavering support to churches across the country.

“We voted for our president in 2022 and we shall vote for his re-election again as he has continued to support our churches” he said.

He said the UDA administration has shown its commitment to uplift churches in the country. Taliti also revealed that they will be backing David Ndakwa’s election as the next Malava Mp since he was in the government’s party.

At the same time they urged Ndakwa to follow suit of assisting churches as his predecessor used to do.

The interfaith treasurer and Bishop at the African church of the Holy Spirit Simon Lunani said they will marshal over the 8000 voters who are members of the churches to vote for Ndakwa and Ruto in 2027 polls.

He said the church is re-known for holding special prayers to leaders including the late Malava Mp Joshua Angatia who ruled for19years, Soita Shitanda 15years, Malulu Injendi 13 years, former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya 10years and President William Ruto whom they assured will, complete his two terms.

“This church is called Jerusalem as it is a holy place that anoints leaders who ascends to power and we are guided by the Holy Spirit in doing so” he reiterated.

He stated that as interfaith churches they had unanimously agreed to support the government achieve its mission in Malava and in the country as well.

They called for respect towards Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, the two Luhyas at the helm of government.

He however requested the government to consider employing their children.

Earlier we did not educate our children because we were told to believe the end of the World was near but now we have send them to school but most of them have no jobs as we have no connections but we know if we support government they will also uplift us by employing our young people.

He thanked the leaders for coming to pray with them and asked for a peaceful by election and for their contribution towards the completion of the Bishop house at the church compound.

“Our UDA government has stood with churches including ours and hence we shall show our loyalty by voting for their candidate in the by election and the president in 2027”he concluded.
