Uraia Trust executive Director Oliver Waindi,Tuesday told political parties to give women equal opportunities during nominations for elective positions.
Waindi noted that women who had proved that they were capable of delivering in leadership just like their men counterparts lacked opportunities.
Addressing journalists at Sunshine Upper Hill Hotel in Kericho town, she said President William Ruto had recognized the crucial role women play in leadership spheres.
"President Ruto has shown the way by appointing women as cabinet secretaries in the ministries of defence, water, labour among other crucial dockets in Kenya," Waindi said.
A fortnight ago,Uraia Trust held a three day workshop at the hotel with the objective of expanding space for women participation in governance and political process.
Waindi singled out Kericho, Embu, Homabay, Kisii, Samburu, Wajir and Kajiado as counties where Uraia Trust is strengthening the capacity of women, girls and their leaders in the seven counties.
On Tuesday, Waindi and Uraia Trust coordinator in Kericho Rose Ogweno started yet another program for sensitization of women in leadership.
