Cheptumo, Jematia in Hot Soup for Snubbing Women Empowerment Fundraiser
Governor Benjamin Cheboi presented their apologies and handed his own Ksh100,000.

A section of Baringo leaders have been accused of snubbing women groups' empowerment drive Friday.
Senator William Cheptumo and Woman Representative Florence Jematia Sergon boycotted without sending their own contributions.

Governor Benjamin Cheboi presented their apologies and handed his own Ksh100,000 and a total of Ksh3.6 million was raised.
"We are surprised our own leaders attend fundraisers in other counties but fail to empower their own in Baringo," Rodah Kandie said.
All elected Members of County Assembly(MCAs) also absconded the fundraiser except United Democratic Alliance(UDA) party nominated county legislator Cynthia Jerotich who attended and gave out her contribution.

It was meant to empower some 260 women groups from Baringo Central of 20 members each, targeting to raise ksh5million shares.
The highly hyped event was presided over by the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who contributed Ksh500,000, while President William Ruto whom he represented, raised Sh1million.
Among the guests present were Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wa who raised sh500,000, Joshua Kandie (host) sh300,000, Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek ksh 100,000.

Others were Eldama Ravine MP Musa Sirma Sh50,000, Businessman and North Rift National chamber of Commerce and Industry director Stanley Baskwony ksh100,000 and Korio Valley Development Director Reuben Chepsongol ksh 10,000 among others.
