Meru opinion leader Mike Mutembei, popularly known as Makarina urges supporters of Kawira Mwangaza to be calm and wait for court ruling.

Mwangaza was removed from office on August 20 by the senate on all three accounts of failing to uphold law, gross misconduct and abuse of office.

But she got reprieve after High Court suspended decision to impeach her, pending case hearing and determination.

Justice Bahati Mwamuye had restrained Senate Speaker Amason Kingi from publishing in the Kenya Gazette notice declaring a vacancy, although the court order came after Kingi had already published.

The matter will be mentioned on September 17 to confirm compliance and take a priority date for highlighting written submission.

Makarina however urges youths not to accept to be used by politicians to do demonstrations against governor Kawira.

“You should ask yourself why you are demonstrating, yet the case is still pending in court,” he said.

He said youths should not accept to enter office and forcefully remove governor as that amounts to anarchy.

“Those who are cheating youths to do that should put their children first and themselves. They should not dupe vulnerable jobless youths,” Makarina said.

He said supporters of Mwangaza are feeling agitated but are restraining themselves to avoid chaos because the two rival groups might crush.

The leader said the court process allowed the county boss to be in power and stopped the swearing in of Deputy Governor Mutuma M’Ithinkia.

He exhumed confidence that Mwangaza will win the case and will fully embark to office.

The politician also urged Deputy governor Mutuma M’ithinkia who fell out with Mwangaza to reconcile so that they can bring development to the people of Meru.

On recent letter by Meru senator Kathuri Murungi where he had written to the controller of budget Margeret Nyakango asking her not to authorize withdrawals in the Meru County Revenue Fund unless it complies with the law.

However, Nyakango declined, saying Mwangaza was still holder of the office until court issue other orders.

Makarina laughed off the decision by the Meru senator, saying he ought to understand the law and stick to his role as senator.

He urged CS Kithure Kindiki to add security for Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza.

“He should give Meru priority the same way he treats the bandits in North Rift because a lot of things are being plotted against the Meru governor,” Makarina said.

He urged deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to stop meddling into Meru affairs and siding with MPS who are against Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza.
