Despite court order suspending the strike, the county KUPPET boss said they cannot stop the demo

Kericho branch executive secretary Mary Rotich says teachers will continue with the strike until all their demands are met.
Rotich said despite a court order suspending the strike, the county KUPPET boss said they cannot stop the demo since TSC does not honour court orders.
“We are just reciprocating what TSC has been doing,” she said.
Kericho branch teachers on Wednesday demanded unconditional resignation of Teachers Service Commission TSC boss Nancy Macharia.
As they entered their third day of the nationwide strike, the KUPPET teachers termed their TSC boss, Macharia, as a thorn in the flesh and stumbling block to their promotions and translation of terms of service for Junior Secondary school teachers from temporary to permanent and pensionable.
They went on to demand for the promotion of more than 130,000 teachers in the country.
“For decade now, teachers who have been carrying up the noble jobs have turned into beggars as they cannot afford to feed their families nor meet medical fees for their beloved admitted to local hospitals,” they claimed.
KUPPET branch executive secretary Rotich and branch chairman Jonah Korir took the teachers in peaceful demonstrations along the streets of Kericho town.
Police in Kericho watched helplessly as demonstrating KUPPET teachers dared them to disband the strike over the court order to halt the strike.
The three police officers who were armed to the teeth and in riot gear, never exploded any teargas canisters as they watched the otherwise peaceful demonstrators.
The bussy Kericho - Nakuru highway was a no go zone as the no nonsense teachers vowed never to relent until all their demands are implemented.
