CS Duale: The Die is Cast, Outcome Spells Goodbye Gachagua

Taking off his Cabinet Secretary (CS) fedora and donning his former Majority Leader hat, Aden Duale has given his insight on DP Gachagua’s impeachment motion.

The  current CS for Climate Change and Forestry, formerly Defense Minister, linked his comments to the press interview by Rigathi Gachagua on October 7, 2024, terming it a decoy meant to earn the Deputy President public sympathy.

“Anyone who took time to go through the Special Motion and evidence tabled last week in the National Assembly, can tell the interview was just a decoy to play in the public gallery, invite sympathy and invoke emotions,” Duale stated.

Replying to comments made by DP Rigathi Gachagua that he would not resign from a job he was accorded by 7.2 million Kenyans, CS Duale has aligned his displeasure stating the position was accorded to him as a result of being nominated by the President.

“Quite unfortunate to see a person who became Deputy President as a result of being nominated by the President as a running mate, chest thump that he was elected by 7.2 million Kenyans with no respect whatsoever for the nominating authority,” he said.

Taking into account the public participation process that is yet to be presented to Parliament, CS Duale has confirmed his faith in the impeachment motion, noting,  "the threats and " in defense" interview cannot therefore stop the train that already left its destination guided by the Constitution and the law.” 

The Environment CS has concluded by alluding at the must for the impeachment motion to reach its final decision according to the National Assembly Standing Order 51.

“As a reminder, the National Assembly Standing Order 51 provides that a Special Motion for removal from office cannot be withdrawn except with the leave of the House. The die is cast and the process cannot be stopped by threats and interviews iced with falsehoods,” Duale concluded.
