Trans-Nzoia: Governor Natembeya Commisions Two Dams to Boost Irrigation

Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya Thursday commissioned two dams in bid to boost crop irrigation.

They are Amani and Muroki dams in Chepchoina Endebess and Saboti sub-counties respectively.

Natembeya said farmers will be connected to the irrigation system in a bid to help boost their production and broaden their income base.

He said the dams will uplift the livelihoods of tomato and cabbage farmers in the region.

"This is in an attempt also to increase cultivation of crops that can generate money with a relatively higher frequency as the crops can be grown up to two to three times a year with the target being crops that takes three months to maturity", he said.

He said this will boost county's crops diversification program through irrigation of tomatoes and other horticultural crops that is being promoted by the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) program in the County.

The County boss was accompanied with Chepchoina Ward representatives Peter Chakali ( Checkoina),Bonface Cheloti (Saboti )Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Development CECM Phanice Khatundi, Agriculture CO Sammy Sichangi, his Livestock Development Counterpart Patrick Osoro, Chief of Staff Dickson Wamocho, Chepchoina ACC Henry Kirwa, his Endebess Counterparts Maurice Karani, Endebess Sub County Administrator Dennis Nyukuri, other County and National Government Officials.
