The Kakamega county Orange democratic movement ODM chairman Fernandez Barasa has faulted the splinter group within the party as traitors who went against the wishes of the late party leader Raila Odinga.

Barasa who is also the Kakamega county governor has hit hard at the Linda Mwananchi brigade incorporating among others Wycliffe Oparanya, Edwin Sifuna and James Orengo as very close confidants to the deceased and who had stood and vowed to defend the party at all costs and who have left the ODM family in shock from their deviant behavior just days before the demise of Raila.

The ODM County chairman was speaking at Malava sub-county during the Ksh 50Million Malava level 4 facelift and stone laying foundation which was also witnessed by Malava Mp David Ndakwa and various Mca’s.

The governor who did not mince his words attacked the Linda Mwanachi camp for going against the aspirations of their fallen party leader of sticking within the broad based government and forming the next (2027) government with Kenya Kwanza administration.

He said it was demeaning to see the split in ODM and the de facto leaders propagating to vie against President William Ruto.

“Baba left us in broad based government and had wished that we form a formidable team that will share government with the Kenya Kwanza side but it is obvious that our brothers have decided to stage a war with us bonafide ODM team and UDA altogether, but I want to assure them that we will be in government come next election unlike them who will soon crumble and fold as the opposition has no chance against the broad based formation”, he lashed.

He took issue with former ODM officials led by Wycliffe Oparanya (deputy party leader), Edwin Sifuna (secretary general) and James Orengo (legal advisor) and staunch supporters and crusaders for Raila Odinga for turning their backs on his wishes and quickly rocking the stability of the largest party (ODM) from within for the sake of satisfying their own selfish interests.

Governor Barasa wondered why Oparanya was advocating to be picked from ODM as the next preferred Deputy President in President Ruto’s 2027 government but was not able to unite all the Western region voters to rally behind his endevours.

He rubbished the recent rally organized by the cooperative cabinet secretary Wycliffe Oparanya in Malava where crowds of supporters were ferried to paint a picture of his popularity only later for the voters to set ablaze ODM t-shirts and caps after logistics inconveniences occurred later after the rally terming the act as bad for the image of the party.

Confirming his allegiance to the ODM party Barasa assured his supporters that he was ready to work with like-minded leaders to scout for votes in support of both UDA and ODM candidates come 2027from the ward to the Presidential level.

He also maintained that he was not leaving the Linda ground side to join ranks with Linda Mwanainchi side as full of malice and blackmail to the ruling government.

He however called on the ODM supporters to stay put in the original party (Linda ground) since it was the bonafide outfit that Raila Odinga subscribed to.

At the same time addressing county matters development, Barasa acknowledged his administration for offsetting many pending meant for several projects his predecessor (Oparanya) had left pending in the sub county stating that now the county was almost winding up with the Malava Dairy plant to be compete in December and the Butali Malekha road tarmacking also set to be initiated soon.
