Kenyans have been urged to seriously engage in environmental conservation through tree planting to be able to address global warming and ozone layer challenges affecting the globe.

The sentiments were made by the environment and sanitation head of Shamberere National Polytechnic Vivian Masitsa during the tree planting week exercise being witnessed country wide.

While working around the clock to hit their target of 750,000 trees to be planted by the instition,Masitsa confirmed that they have planted and distributed 8500 tree seedlings across the school and distributed others to sister institutions.

"This event saw us bring trees which we planted as an institution,then gave out to our sister technical and vocational training institutes including, Bushiangala technical training institute and Navakholo technical and vocational college,besides also engaging both Shamberere primary and secondary and local communities in the exercise.Our aim is to green our environment as possible to enable availability of rainfall,soil conservation and solar energy that care crucial tonour lives."she observed.

She encouraged the learners and staff of the institutions to take up the national government tree planting initiative seriously as tress were important for fruits,Medicines,timber and firewood and beautication of the environment as well.

Her counterpart Wycliffe Matalanga termed the exercise as very crucial to the well being of the country, considering that more forest cover was the start of enough rainfall to enable farmers produce foodstuff for sustainability.

"As we celebrate this tree planting week which is a government initiative,under the ministry of education state department of technical and vocational training (Tvet), let us all support the program as it is geared towards bettering our environment and lives as awhole as the world is at crossroads as matters climate change takes center stage with meetings after each being held to find a lasting solution to the raging problem." he said.

At the same time plans are underway to set up a new technical branch to serve learners from Butali chegulo and it's adjacent wards.

In a meeting with the residents of Shipala community area Makwabuye village the area MCA Kevin Mahelo together with the National government administration and Shamberere national polytechnic conducted a public participation on proposed Kabras East TTI at Makhwabuye ( NG- CDF ) land as per article 118 of the constitution.

The chief principal of Shamberere national polytechnic Dr.Elisha Nyamu expressed his appreciation to the area residents who unanimously endorsed the project.

Shamberere National polytechnic will begin by establishing a branch in the area that will later develop into an independent TTI.
