Youths are challenged to utilize their energies and time to explore available opportunities to transform their lives.

Dr Julius Tanui, a medical doctor in James Finlay Tea Estate Hospital in Kericho notifies youth that the world had become a global village with glaring untapped on-line opportunities which majority of them overlooked with the advent of the first and vast communication network.

"It is mind boggling servility to see several youths chasing mirrages of being over night millionaires through betting and gambling which are a wash in the media outlets including mobile phones," Dr Tanui lamented.

Dr Tanui who was a motivational speaker during a youth rally held during "basaka holiday" at Telanet Primary School in Kericho county, noted that youths drain their meagre resources in the additive vices a likening it with- 'mirrages at a close inspections,'.

 "Several youths had turned out to be zombies while other had taken out their lives after failing to hit the much anticipated jackpots, mostly the enticing aviators," he said.

A man of several huts: a medic , gospel artist, a breacher, motivator counsellor and psychollogist Dr Tanui pleaded with youths to shun the trending social habits.

"These emerging betting vices had sapped the young generation's precious time in-leau of acquiring education and exploring hidden talents through sports and other gifted skills for their future prosperity," he said.

He was hosted by Rev Charles Mutai, Simion Terer, Rev Irine Kimeto, Josea Sigei and Kenya Highland Sacco senior official Peter Kirui.

Rev Kimetto stated that handset had become detrimental to youth accademic performances in both lower and higher learning institutions including churches.

She called upon parents to monitor their children and guide them on the merits and demerits saying the mobile phones are neccesity in live and should be handled with discipline mind.

"Alas! in the classrooms, in lecturer halls, public forums even during surmons in the churches some youths are seen concentrated with phones leaving speakers talk to the chairs.

No concentration," she made observion. Terer decried the poor turnout of the youths in the forum which was convened for their benefit.

He told the parents who were the majority in the meeting to take messages and to monitor children at home.

The senior Sacco official Peter Kirui advice youth to make hornest agri- business if they want to be millionares saying the Sacco had financial programmes and services friendly to the youth and everyone.

"Form groups or individually visit us at the Sacco for free advices on how to become rich and we would give you capital to simply take you to the road of being a real millionare not seasonal ones like gamblers," he appealed to the youths.

Echoing the same sentiments Emirates urged youths to do agro business pointing out that several youth are idle with some engaging in lawlessness like stealing and other vices the society.

"In the recent past cases of robery with violence, burglary and stealing in our farms had been reported in the locality those found would be met wrath of the law regardless of age," he warned suspects.

Kibet noted youths need recreation facilities pledging to give facelift all public playgrounds in schools to the required standards given a chance to the next 2027 general elections.
