Residents of Lugari constituency have come out calling on the government to speed up its investigations following the mysterious death of former area Mp Cyrus Jirongo.

Led by the chairperson of the Kakamega county water and sanitation company (KACWASCO) Boaz Bulimu the residents have urged the sleuths to dig deeper and unearth the cause of death of their leader.

Bulimu said it was in public domain that despite the postmortem and forensic report still there was gaps in the narrative leading to his death.

He quoted both Fred Gumo and George Khaniri who are leading the funeral arrangements, there was more to the story than what the public and family were being told.

Gumo and Khaniri while yesterday agreeing with the post mortem report, they expressed concerns on some grey areas that left more questions than answers on how the leader loved by many met his death.

He said it was time for the investigators to get down and unravel the mystery leading to his death.

“We as Lugari residents are very saddened and pertubed by the way our leader Cyrus Shakhalakha Jirongo passed on and there are a lot of loopholes that needs to be tied up together to explain blatantly how our leader died and this is the only way our hearts will rest knowing the plain truth on what happened,” he urged.

He observed that a somber mood has engulfed the family friends and the entire community as they try to come to terms with tragic death of their loved one. Bulimu said it will be better and reassuring that the matter is resolved before the leader is laid to rest as scheduled (30th December 2025 in his Lugari home.

The residents said their only hope to know the remaining truth now squarely lies in the hands of government machineries as they are the ones with the capacity to carry out thorough investigations.

The calls comes days after the united opposition led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DCP Rigathi Gachagua and DAP-Kenya Eugene Wamalwa held a presser asking the government to unravel the mystery around Jirongo’s sudden death stating that there was more than meet the eye in the matter.

At the same time Tiriki elders from Vihiga have visited jirongo’s home calling for vengeance if their son was by any way killed.

They said their son will only rest if it was just AN accident but if the hand of man was invoilved to gtake away his life then let the sun see him.
