This year's International Tea Day celebrations will be hosted in Nandi County on May 21, 2024. The Tea Board of Kenya, in collaboration with key stsjeholders in the Tea Sector, has chosen Nandi County as the venue for this prestigious event. International Tea Day is an annual observance dedicated to acknowledging the cultural and economic importance of tea worldwide. It serves as a platform to promote awareness about various aspects of tea, including its rich history, production techniques, consumption patterns, and health benefits. The Deputy Governor of Nandi County, Dr. Yulita Chebotip Cheruiyot, alongside Dr. Kiplimo Araap Lagat, the CECM for Agriculture and Co-operatives Development, officially launched the International Tea Day, (ITD2024) campaign at the Nandi Bears Club. Following the launch, an activation drive that took place in Nandi Hills Town, brought about excitement and anticipation among locals and stakeholders. Dr. Cheruiyot underlined the significance of hosting the International Tea Day celebrations in Nandi County. He outlined the region's potential for growth, investment, collaboration, and partnership opportunities. Stakeholders from across the industry are expected to converge in Nandi County. They will participate in the festivities together explore avenues for sustainable development in the tea sector. The festivity will feature a diverse range of workouts, including the Youth Tea Recipe Challenge, Activations, Field Day events, a Race and a Business Forum. These activities aim to engage participants and visitors, showcase the cultural diversity associated with tea, and promote sustainable procedures within the tea industry. As preparations continue, Nandi County reaffirms its status as a hub for tea culture, innovation, and excellence.
