Ol' Lesos Technical Training Institute Shines at South Rift TVET FAIR
Out of the 12 categories, the Ol' Lesos won 5 innovations on projects, thus booking a slot at the National TVET Competition slated for September this year in Nakuru County.
Ol' Lesos Technical Training Institute emerged at the top after winning five innovation projects at the South Rift TVET Fair that took place at Silbwet Stadium in Bomet County.
The competitors had attracted over 20 institutions that were competing in the 12 innovation categories. Out of the 12 categories, the Ol' Lesos won 5 innovations on projects, thus booking a slot at the National TVET Competition slated for September this year in Nakuru County.
The departments in which the institution shines include green energy generators (Agricultural and Automotive Engineering), natural hair shampoo (Applied Science), commercial Vegetable cutters (Business), Automated Concrete Repair (Civil engineering), and enriched Nutripro Porridge Flour (Food and Beverage) The generator can power households, multiple electronic devices, and even 600 bulbs in a homestead. Its eco-friendly design and continuous operation promise to revolutionize energy consumption.
Another remarkable innovation emerged from the agriculture department, where students unveiled a new method for producing dairy meals. By utilizing readily available food substances, such as maize stalks rich in vitamins, farmers can now create nutritious dairy meals.
This breakthrough was inspired by the institute’s emphasis on mass, and energy balance in the curriculum, enabling students to establish the ideal nutritional composition for optimal milk production.
The Department of Hospitality introduced a natural hair shampoo that has garnered attention for enhancing hair growth and beauty. Crafted from natural ingredients, this shampoo nourishes hair, strengthens it, and stimulates growth, all while avoiding harmful chemicals.
The students behind this creation meticulously studied the hair’s needs to develop a product that promotes lustrous and resilient hair free from breakages.

The field of applied science contributed an essential innovation in the form of El Fati to Folier and Repellent. This natural product is an adequate foliar feed for vegetables and a repellent against aphids and other garden insects.
With 28 ongoing projects, Ol'Lesos Technical Institute continues to push the boundaries of innovation and education.
