'Indeed nothing feels sweeter than peace' a section Pokot residents from Tiaty, Baringo now make sincere confession and discovery in President William Ruto's administration.

David Losikiriatum, an elder from Churo-Amaya in Tiaty East on Friday, praised President Ruto for taking bold steps to reclaim back sanity in the once perceived hostile and inhabitable region.

For decades since the 1970s, besides illiteracy scalling between 60 and 70 per cent, Tiaty has blindedly been grappling with harsh effects of retrogressive cultures like Banditry and Cattle Rustling, Female Genital Mutilation and Early Marriages.

"While people maybe throwing political stones of hatred at President Ruto, we the people of Tiaty are really enjoying the fruits of his good leadership," Losikiriatum said.

He quickly pointed out the reigning peace in the region saying "indeed peace is so sweet, we are praying for God's protection upon President Ruto so that he may lead us for many years ahead" he said.

Pokot community in Tiaty has been branded with bad names and linked with hostilities that has for many years caused hundreds of deaths, livestock theft, restlessness, and displacement among neighbouring communities in Baringo, Laikipia, Samburu,West Pokot, Turkana and Elgeyo-Marakwet counties.

"President Ruto's administration has brought us together, and we are now bonding and coexisiting in peace with our neighbours," Losikiriatum said.

However, when he took over power as the Head of State, Ruto promised to use all the available government mercenaries to pursue and wipe out the armed criminals destabilising peaceful communities in the country.

"Criminals should now choose three options, either to reform, flee away from Kenya or die," he said. Afterwards, a contingent of heavily armed multi-agency forces were deployed to the banditry-infested zones across the nation, Baringo's Tiaty included.

Apart from engaging in running battles to deal with the notorious criminals, the military personnel were also tasked to construct classrooms and help mobilize children to join school.

Hundreds of National Police Reservists(NPR) recruited from the warring local communities were also deployed to support security officers in quelling the menace.

Former Tangulbei-Korossi ward Member of County Assembly(MCA) Peter Amasile confirmed saying peace has really resumed in Tiaty.

"Recently, in December, nine students from Tiaty graduated with various courses from universities across the country, six of whom were girls," he said.

Amasile further said some more efforts are required to educate Tiaty's pokot boy child in order to complete the cycle of education and civilisation, hence burying the retrogressive cultures forever.

He said upon resumption of peace, the local communities were now enjoying and trading freely at Tangulbei, Amaya, and Nginyang markets.

"Imagine for the first time in history, we are receiving visitors in our markets coming to buy our cattle at between Ksh30,000 to Ksh70,000 per head, Ksh10,000 to Ksh22,000 per Goat and between KSh1,100 to1,300 per four litre tin of honey" Amasile said.

He sincerely thanked the government led by President Ruto, saying locals were now living peacefully and travelling freely to attend to their normal daily activities like many other Kenyans.
