Former Tigania West MP David Karithi has urged National assembly majority leader Kimani Ichungwa to stop meddling in Meru affairs.
Karithi said Meru has its own leaders and will not be told what to do when it comes to politics and the realignment of 2027 polls.
"He is just hovering around talking and bringing his divisive politics in Meru, I heard last week attacking Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
He should respect elected leaders," Karithi said. Karithi who is the Jubilee party Chairman, said Meru will not follow leaders blindly and will seek to identify itself as the former Eastern province voting block.
"There is nothing like Mount Kenya this time round as people of Meru, we will team up with Embu and Tharaka Nithi and our brothers in Ukambani and rally behind one person,"Karithi said.
He spoke exclusives to the Rural Times, Tuesday. There is disquiet in Meru over the presidential candidate the region might support in coming polls.
Although Meru overwhelmingly voted for President William Ruto, the region might shift should Kalonzo Musyoka seek presidency.
Kalonzo has identified himself as a Meru. The former alumni of Meru School has been identifying himself as a familiar face in the county where he spent his time in school and has friends.
Karithi said Meru might think their political dalliance with Kikuyu and might go to Ukambani should Kalonzo's presidential bid be vigorous enough.
