As campaigns intensify in Malava, education has been prioritized in the manifesto of the UDA candidate.
While addressing the Muslim community at Mchanja, Mugai Shirugu Ward, former councillor Philip Munyolo highlighted one of the major challenges faced by Muslims and local schools in the area and the need to improve infrastructure.
UDA candidate David Athman Dakwa who was in attendance promised not only to pay school fees for students but also to ensure that infrastructure such as roads are well maintained to ease the burden of students commuting and the transportation of school materials.
He also encouraged parents to allow their children during the long holiday to engage in productive activities instead of associating with bad company that could ruin their educational journey.
Mchanja Primary School, Mugai Primary School and Mugai Secondary School are set to benefit greatly from Dakwa’s pledges as they are among the oldest schools in the area.
Mugai Secondary School is expected to receive additional land for expansion due to its growing population although infrastructure remains inadequate for the increasing number of students.

The Chepsaita Marathon patron, Sir Farouk Kibet, who was also present urged parents to educate their children to enable them to compete equally with others across the world.
“Though we struggle as parents, moving up and down to educate our children, we must remain focused on giving them proper education despite the challenges we face,” said Sir Farouk Kibet.
In a concurrent UDA campaign, Navakholo MP Emanuel Wagwe, while drumming up support for the UDA candidate, presented cheques worth KSh 1.538 million to Tande High School and Mavusi Primary School to improve school infrastructure.
