Kelvin Kiptum Succumbed To Multiple Fructures- Autopsy
The late former marathon world record holder and rising star, died in a road traffic accident near Kaptagat, Kenya, along with his coach Gervais Hakizimana.
Kiptum lost control of his car and veered off the road, colliding with a tree.
According to the postmortem at the Eldoret Hospital morgue, conducted by chief government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor on Wednesday, the results show Kelvin Kiptum died due to severe head injuries, and fractures on the skull, and ribs, which also affected his lungs.

“I was called in to do the postmortem due to speculation that arose after the death of the kiptum,” said Oduor.

Present during the postmortem was Kiptum’s father, Samson Cheruiyot, alongside homicide officers from the DCI headquarters.
Oduor also let the media know that they had taken samples from the body for toxicology analysis to help determine the cause of the accident.
According to Philip Kiplagat, the family spokesperson, they were satisfied with the report of the postmortem and are ready to proceed with Kiptum’s burial at his farm near Naiberi in Uasin Gishu County on Friday.
