Parliamentary Committee Launches Probe into Mismanagement.

Moi University, a once beacon of academic excellence in Kenya, is now on the brink of collapse. 

A litany of issues including bad governance , reckless resource management, and allegations of outright theft and looting has left the institution in financial and operational disarray.

The parliamentary committe on Education and governance chaired by Hon. Jack Wamboka has called for an urgent session in parliament to address the teething crisis. 

The committee aims to interrogate university officials and other stakeholders to uncover root causes of institution decline.

In a separate move, parliamentary investment committee has directed the auditor general to conduct a comprehensive forensic audit of Moi University's financial dealings.

The audit will scrutinise years of mismanagement focusing on alleged financial contracts and unaccounted for public funds.

Founded in 1984 , Moi University was envisioned as hub of innovation and learning , contributing to Kenyas intellectual and economic development.

However, years of mismagement have led to mounting debts , unpaid staff salaries , deteriorating infrastructure and a shrinking student population.

Sources within the institution have painted to lack of vision and foresight among leadership which has compounded the university woes.

Allegations of nepotism and political interferences in key appointments have further eroded trust in management.

Parliamentary session convened marks a critical moment in efforts to save university .

Hon Jack wamboka emphasised the importance of accountability, stating, " the future of our education sector depends on decisions we make today. We must ensure that institutions like Moi university are managed transparently and sustainably"

Auditor general forensic audit is expected to provide clearer picture of the financial mismagement that has plague the university.

Students, alumni ans education advocates have called for swift reforms to restore the institution reputation.

As the country watches the development unfold , there is growing pressure on the government and parliament to take decisive action to prevent a similar fate from befalling other public universities.
