More than 2000 Njuri Ncheke elders have endorsed Interior and administration CS Kithure Kindiki as Mount Kenya Spokesman.
The elders are the latest leaders among many to throw their weight to CS Kindiki. The elders spoke at their shrine in Nchiru on Wednesday.
Led by their chairman Andriana Aruyaru, the elders said they will support President William Ruto 2027 reelection bid.
"We have also endorsed Kindiki as our spokesman a link between Mount Kenya East and the President," Aruyaru said.
Kindiki who is a Njuri Ncheke, having been inaugurated in 2013 was handed the baton to lead the Meru community.
Njuri Ncheke are the supreme council of elders that were known to lead the Meru People before colonisation and still remain relevant to the Meru people from Thuci- Ntonyiri.
The elders brought business to a stand still as they marched from Nchiru shopping Center to the shrine adjacent.
Former South Imenti MP aspirant Gedion Kimathi said Kindiki being a Njuri Ncheke elder and an obedient one who is also at the helm of President William Ruto's government, deserves to be Mount Kenya Spokesman.
"He has all the qualities of a good leader and also follows our traditions as an elder who is humble and obidient to others," said Kimathi who is also a Njuri Ncheke leader.
Kimathi said they will seek to have Kindiki as Deputy President in 2027, the seat currently occupied by Rigathi Gachagua.
"We have supported our Kikuyu brothers for long we are happy that they have also decided to support Kindiki in 2027 we also have our own interests and we would not feel bad to be at the number two," Kimathi said.
Kimathi urged larger Meru (Embu and Tharaka Nithi) counties to remain optimistic and support Kindiki.
"Those who are saying Kindiki does not have numbers let them know the two counties have not less than one Million votes if we add other counties Kindiki is a force to reckon with," Kimathi said.
Kindiki has already started preparing his political arsenal as he seeks to oust Deputy President Gachagua.
They profile Kindiki as a humble and hardworking leader who likes to keep low profile and that he is the best suitor for Ruto admist his fallout with Gachagua.
