Ariel Henry, Haiti's Prime Minister, agrees to resign.
By Rural Times Reporter
Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry stated early Tuesday that he will resign once a transitional presidential council is formed, caving in to international pressure to preserve the country from violent gangs that, according to some analysts, have sparked a low-level civil war.
Henry made the declaration hours after Caribbean leaders and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken convened in Jamaica to quickly negotiate a solution to Haiti's escalating situation.
"The government that I am leading will resign immediately after the installation of (a transition) council. I want to thank the Haitian people for the opportunity I had been granted."," Henry said in a televised speech.

He asked all Haitians to remain calm and do everything they can for peace and stability to come back as fast as possible.
It was not immediately obvious who will lead Haiti out of the crisis, which has seen highly armed gangs torch police stations, attack the main airport, and storm two of the country's largest jails. The operations resulted in the freeing of over 4,000 detainees.
