The academic lifeline for Kenya's boy child is at risk if proper measures are not put in place to salvage them.
This is according to the Chief Principal Friends Malava boys Dr. Aliva Luvaso who noted the country is facing an imminent shortage of boys enrolled in schools and completing their education as more emphasis has been redirected to the girl child.
While addressing parents and candidates for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) he cautioned parents against letting free the boy child to fend and take care of himself saying freedom is coming with a cost where it is presumed that the boy child is a man and can take care of his problems.
He asked parents to equally award the same treatment and care to their sons for tomorrows prosperity not at home but within the country at large.
“The girl child has become protected and well catered for by the society after several cries over their neglect in education and well-being was heard and various organization launched campaigns to salvage female gender and now all energies and thoughts have been zeroed on them leaving the boy child at the mercy of the Lord,” he said.
He warned that if stringent measures to uplift and instill hope into the male child is revived, the country risks raising up men with very low self -esteem who cannot compete favourably.
We have seen with the empowerment of the girl child they’re able to academically compete and challenge their male counterpart and even beating them in those tough subjects,” he noted.
On academics, the principal highlighted that the school has put in place programmes that will enable it improve its university entry and record the best results in the history of the school.
“We are working from the scratch revive both our academic and co-curricular activities that will catapult the school back to the academic and sports calendar and so far the response has been good’” He continued
He called on all the stakeholders to come and join in this walk of making Friends Malava boys great again and we are sure we will succeed in this noble journey.
The parent’s association Mr. Issa Machio stressed to the parents the need to invest in their children through giving them quality education.
He lauded the programmes introduced by the chief principal as one of his kind and is commitment and what he does is unheard of and unbelievable and said they were rallying behind him to better education in the school.
“His presence in school to monitor learning progress is laudable and should be supported fully.”
He advised the parents to assist the boys who have attained the age of 18 years to apply for national identity cards this holiday so that by the time they are through with their end year examination they will be ready for collection
"They can use them to proceed with their endeavors" he said.
Statistically he agreed that there were many learned ladies than gentlemen in Kenya hence putting the male species at risk.
He advised the boy child to pull up their socks as the set pace by the girl child was threatening their academic survival and future for that matter.
