Government urged to set more funds for young innovations.
The government and private sector has been urged to channel money towards innovation and research.
Meru University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Romanus Odhiambo said innovation and research will greatly uplift the youth ideas that can transform the country.
He spoke on Tuesday at the institution in Nchiru after he launched a science and innovation exhibition week.
He said they have collaborated with Safaricom, Huawei and other young scientists.
Odhiambo said research can be commercilizable innovative products.
"We are appealing to people out there is a lot of potential research products that can be used to create Small Micro Enterprises (SMEs),create business, create jobs and even turn around the economy ," Odhiambo said.
"The youth gain a lot of knowledge and have ideas that can make Kenya be like Singapore the only need more funds being mooted to them to enable research so am urging the government to continue funding such initiatives," the don said.
James Nkanya chairman of council of Meru University of Science and Technology said such exbition will help a great deal to encourage more innovators.

"We need to invent our own technology so I want to encourage students and others especially the youth to come up with ideas and showcase them," Nkaya said.
He said Kenya does not need to import technology, they are capable of creating themselves.
He said the government should set aside more funds to make innovation vibrant.
Nkanya said the Meru University of Science and Technology has resolved to financially support ideas that lead to great innovations.
