Man Found Dead Near Illicit Alcohol Den in Kakoyi, Kakamega
Not the first time someone has died under unclear circumstances related to illicit brews.

Shock and grief have engulfed a family in Kakoyi Village Malava Sub-county Kakamega County after one of their own a member of the Khasabuli family, Lumbasi Khasabuli aged 65yrs was found dead near a notorious site known for brewing illicit alcohol.
According to his two wives, Florence Lumbasi and Alice Lumbasi, the deceased had been in good health and had not complained of any illness until his body was discovered in a trench close to the illegal brewing site.
“It was around 10 a.m. when a child came running to inform me that someone had been killed in Kakoyi. We didn’t know who it was but people were rushing to the scene,” said Florence.
Neighbours and villagers confirmed the incident and called on authorities to take firm action against illicit alcohol brewing in the area.
They urged law enforcement agencies to shut down all illegal dens operating within the community. “This is not the first time someone has died under unclear circumstances related to illicit brews.
Those responsible should be punished so that others can learn a lesson,” lenah machoni one resident. The deceased’s elder brother Peter Khasabuli appealed to the public to shun drug and alcohol abuse particularly the consumption of illicit brews.
He also urged the government to intensify crackdowns on illegal alcohol and to establish rehabilitation centres in every ward to help those seeking recovery from substance abuse.
The area chief Ezekiel Kakani condemned the incident and promised that strong action would be taken against those responsible for Khasabuli’s death.
He further called on the family to remain calm as police continue with their investigations and wait for postmortem results to determine the exact cause of death
