Teachers In Elgeyo Marakwet County Receiving Free Treatment From Insurance Broker, Minet-Kenya

Teachers in Elgeyo Marakwet county have benefited from Free medical Camp organized by Insurance broker Minet-Kenya.

The camp held at the St. Patrick's Iten Boys' High school brought on baord a host of local private hospitals which included Top Hill, Reale, Bliss, Palmcare Sinai amongst others.

The teachers were screened for blood pressure, sugars, weight and other random medical checks and consultation which included optical and dental services.

They were also taken through verification of their personal and dependants' records.

Addressing the Press at the camp, the agency's Northrift regional Manager Mr Ronny Kipruto said the activity was a sensitization exercise for teachers

. "We have previously done similar activity in Five other counties in Kenya. We have seen about 250 teachers. I am sure if the weather around this place was friendly today, the numbers would have been high," said Kipruto.

Mr Kipruto said:" Our objective today was to inform our teachers that these services are closer to them and to also introduce them to the hospitals around this place,"

Teachers Service Commission officer Elgeyo Marakwet County branch Mr Michael Nyambinya appreciated Minet and it's partners for organizing the event saying early detection of ailments and treatment would avoid sick offs.

"This activity has come at a time when teachers are out of school and there are so many opportunistic diseases nowadays," said the

officer.

Some of the teachers however challenged the insurer to ensure the facilities have sufficient pharmaceutical supplies in their pharmacies.

"Sometimes you get attended to in some of these hospitals and once you are at the pharmacy you are asked to purchase drugs elsewhere because what you have been prescribed is out of stock,"said Ms Janet Wangila , a teacher at Kipsoen Secondary school.
