Meg Whitman, the US ambassador to Kenya, stated at a speech in Nyeri County on Monday that it would take some time for Kenyan forces to arrive in Haiti.

“Kenyan troops will only enter the unstable Caribbean nation of Haiti once the country has the necessary infrastructure and is prepared to welcome them.” She said.

Whitman claims that the Caribbean country's recent political transition has made things more difficult.

"There is nothing unusual; it's just that these things take time. These are very complicated missions. This is not a UN peacekeeping mission; it's a different kind of mission. Police need to be trained and vetted. The Department of Defense needs to set up the camp in Haiti where the police will go.” She stated.

The UN trust fund needs to be set up so that Kenya can be given the money to undertake this Haiti mission.
