The Council of Governors (CoG) called for a special meeting on Wednesday, to discuss the national doctors' strike and the enforcement of the court orders that the Employment and Labour Relations court imposed last week.

The meeting was scheduled to take place at a time when the nationwide strike was going into its thirteenth day, with doctors from Meru and Nakuru counties taking to the streets to demand that the government respond to their demands.

Drs., medical interns and medical students from Nakuru marched from the Nakuru Annex Hospital to the Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital, passing through the Governor's office on their way.

The nearly four-hour-long rallies were intended to put pressure on the government to quickly enact the 2017 collective bargaining agreement and respond to demands made by doctors.
