Moi University has temporarily suspended all academic tours following a bus tragedy involving 65 students.

 
The event occurred Wednesday morning on the Nakuru-Nairobi route near Kimende.

The event occurred Wednesday morning on the Nakuru-Nairobi route near Kimende. Vice-Chancellor Isaac Kosgey announced the decision on the university's social media outlets.

 "At approximately 9:50 a.m. this morning, our University Bus KCK 583U, carrying 65 students from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili, was involved in a non-fatal traffic accident at Kimende area on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway during an academic trip," according to a statement issued by the Vice-Chancellor.

"As a precautionary measure, all academic trips have been suspended until after the Easter Holidays." According to the institution.

Fortunately, no accidents or fatalities were reported, and all pupils are well. Alternative transport has been provided to return the students to the main campus.

Following the tragedy, Kosgey emphasized the significance of road safety during the Easter holidays, encouraging drivers and other road users to be cautious.
