Register in masses as voters to support my re-election to office, Ruto tells residents of South Rift Region

President William Ruto urges the people of South Rift region to register in masses as voters ahead of next year's 2027 general election.

He also calls upon citizens from across the region to support his reelection for second term in office.

"Those of you without national identification cards and not registered as voters should do so you can exercise your democratic right in the voting process." Ruto said.

He directed leaders from the entire region to supervise and ensure every legible individual is registered.

He said in Kericho county a lone, data shows at least 1million people do not have national IDs and also haven't registered as voters.

"For devopment to be realized in this nation, the people must participate in electing the right people in office to move the agenda forward," he said.

The head of state said everyone vote counts and is powerful to decide who will take respective leadership position in the country, "I therefore call upon leaders to ensure no one is left out on the registration process" he said.

He was speaking while touring various projects in Kericho and Bomet Counties.

He listed some successful projects delivered to the region through his administration, saying it won't have been possible if he was not voted as president.

"It is my responsibility as president to ensure equal distribution of development across the nation" he said.

He named Kapkatet Stadium among fullfilled promises he made to the community that once he ascends to power, he would build an ultra-modern facility.

The stadium that has been neglected for a long time has now been elevated to the tune of sh.1.6 billion, giving it a facelift.

"Upon completion, it will help youths nature their talents in sporting activities and football" he said. 

He said the project will benefit the community in holding their cultural, socio-economic and political events.

The President used the opportunity to ask the opposition team to stop blackmailling that the Kenya Kwanza has never delivered, saying they only dwell on lies and abusive words that can not drive the development agenda for the nation.

"I hear opposition team trying to lecture us saying us Kenya Kwanza team havent performed but get it right from me on the coming election period every leader will display development track record and Wanainchi will give the right answers through ballot," he said.

President said he is ready to face the opposition team come next year, "and they will be shocked we shall win by a big margin," Ruto said.

Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot doubling leader of majority at the Senate accussed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that has no political leadership standards.

"To Mr President continue with your normal routine in office work, I will deal with the so-called Wamunyoro he is not your league, leave him for me," Cheruiyot said.

Cheruiyot also added that they will deliver one million votes each in Kericho and Bomet Counties, and the exercise will start as early as possible in all regions.

Bureti MP Kibet Komingoi had a rough time being heckled by the locals after was given a chance to speak on two functions, forcing him to cut short his speech.
