Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has called upon to stop funding both opposition and ODM Linda Mwananchi with the intentions of scuttling efforts by President William Ruto’s second term.

The Orange democratic movement (ODM) Linda ground stalwarts led by deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya while leading their Kakamega county UDA-ODM broad based rally held at Malava primary grounds, the leaders pledged their continued support to President William Ruto’s second term in office as long as they secure the deputy president slot.

ODM director of elections and Sina East Mp Junet Mohamed addressing the broad based rally in Malava

To throw the first Salvo was Junet Mohammed the ODM director of elections who lashed out at retired President Uhuru Kenyatta for his alleged involvement in the wrangles within ODM.

He accused Uhuru Kenyata of being the financial master mind behind the woes affecting ODM party since the passing of its leader Raila Odinga where he is said to be funding the Sifuna led Linda Mwananchi which has since broke ranks with the initial ODM and joined the united opposition being fronted by impeached deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

The outspoken Suna East Mp blamed Uhuru Kenyatta for sabotaging President William Ruto’s through funding the ongoing opposition campaigns with the main aim of denying President William Ruto enough support and backing from the party to grand him victory and a chance to serve his second term in office.

“We are aware of your heinous plans to blackmail President Ruto that he fails to marshal enough support to re-elect him in the 2027 polls and that is why you are working with them and even sponsoring their campaigns all over the country, but we want to assure that your plans will fail”

ODM deputy party leader and cabinet secretary cooperatives Wycliffe Oparanya addressing their supporters

He wondered what mechanism the retired President will apply to defeat Ruto considering that he failed to make the late Raila Odinga President to take over from him and yet he was in office with all the state machineries.

“You were the 4th President of the republic of Kenya and for4 two terms (10years) and before you completed your tenure you began grooming Raila Odinga to take over from you knowing very well that you were to serve two terms then support your then deputy William Ruto to serve his two but you decided to backstab him in favour of ODM leader whom despite having all the state agencies and supports under your command you failed to make Raila the 5th President with your then embattled deputy William Ruto clinching the Presidency and now that your retired and tired what makes you think that you can groom an opposition leader especially from Western to divide the region’s votes that will see the incumbent fail to get his second term in office?”

The Mp told off the ODM splinter group being led by Edwin Sifuna who was the ODM secretary general that their plans to oust Ruto from the Presidency will fail terribly as the blessing of Raila was with Ruto and in broad based formation where he left his supporters.

“It is unfortunate that people are lying to you that you possess Baba’s spirit and blessings, NO, because his spirits will never join the ranks with the likes of Rigathi Gachagua who are spewing tribal venom and out to see this country burn to ashes”

The ODM deputy party leader and cabinet secretary cooperatives Wycliffe Oparanya announced his comeback to the political limelight after taking sabbatical leave since being appointed as a minister in the broad based agreement.

Oparanya said he was ready to unify all the Western region Mps and bring them on the negotiating table for the position of deputy President of the republic of Kenya in 2027 as per the agreement between President William Ruto and the late Raila Odinga.

Already he has on his side marshalled the support of all the 13 Mps drawn from Kakamega county who were present withy him at the rally and who all unanimously agreed that he was better placed to represent the Mulembe nation as their next deputy President in 2027.

He rubbished the splinter group terming it as a vehicle with a driver who did not know where they were going and urged the ODM supporters to support the broad based government as it was in a better position to award them the second high office on land.

“From where we sit we can tell that we are headed somewhere unlike our other team which came from known and is headed to unknown pledging their support to a leader who does not even know if the elections will be held in his favour, as all he got is personal political vendetta against President William Ruto for impeaching him”

ODM secretary general Catherine Omanyo giving her speech during the Malava rally

The ODM secretary general Catherine Omanyo said it was a shame to see some once ODM loyalists being used by some politicians not only to split the party but also the entire Western region to deny President William Ruto victory.

She said the betrayers were very close allies of Raila and hardly has the funeral mood gotten over they have already sold their allegiance to the enemy Sifuna has been asking us “Who told you and now I want to ask him, Who advised him and his troops to betray Baba’s legacy by joining the opposition?” she paused.

Omanyo confirmed that they were firmly in broad based government where Raila wanted them to be and what they were fighting was to be there through the right means and by being identified as an equal partner.

It is time for the Western region to have a seat at the high table offering palatable menu and there is no way we are going to leave and start from scratch as it has been a journey to reach were we are now and our destiny from where we are sitting is so close compared if we are in opposition.

Kakamega county Woman Mp Elsie Muhanda who is eyeing the county gubernatorial position in 2027 lauded various development the government has initiated within and drummed support for President Ruto’s final term in office.

The Members of parliament from Kakamega County were also in attendance including Hon. Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), Hon. Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), Hon. Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Hon. Elsie Muhanda (Kakamega County Woman Representative), Hon. Nabii Nabwera (Lugari), Hon. Fred Ikana (Shinyalu), Hon. Benard Masaka , and Hon. Christopher Aseka (Khwisero).
